Animal Evacuation Support


A variety of local businesses and individuals are offering support for evacuated animals. Thanks to KDNK member Patty Lecht for helping compile this info. Click through to see locations and phone numbers.

CARE, Colorado Animal Rescue is taking small animals only, no horses or livestock. Their phone number is 970-947-9173.

Aspen Animal Shelter, near the airport, has space. Their number is 544-0206.

Valley Emergency Pet Care in Basalt has space. Their number is 970-927-5066.

The Garfield County Fairgrounds is accepting most livestock, but no stallions. Their number is 970-625-2514. 

Nancy Limbaugh in Silt can take animals. Her number is 970-309-7161.

Rasa Higens in Silt can take horses, chickens, or turkeys. Her number is 970-319-6534. 

Angelo Bardillo in Silt can take horses, sheep, or chickens. His number is 989-0444.

John Kuck in Willits can help with injured animals. His number is 970-556-2132.

Ted Frisbie can house caged songbirds. His number is 309-1397.

And Chris Taylor has a chicken coop available along the Crystal River near KOA. His number is 801-661-7821.
