Garfield, Eagle and Pitkin Counties Report 3 COVID-19 Deaths Last Week

A Garfield County woman in her 70s who tested positive for COVID-19 died Saturday. Garfield County Health officials say the woman had other significant health conditions, and that more countywide test results are pending. Pitkin and Eagle Counties also reported COVID-19 deaths on Friday, both have now reported two each. Click the headline for more details.

Pitkin County reported its second COVID-19 death on Friday. The victim was 55-year-old Aspen resident Pauli Laukkenen. He was found Tuesday, March 25th during a welfare check by Aspen Police officers. Pitkin County Coroner’s office says Laukkenen had reported minimal symptoms of night sweats and fever several days before his death. 

Eagle County also reported its second COVID-19 death Friday of a man in his 40s. No other information about the case was provided.

As of Sunday Eagle County had a total of 187 positive cases of the novel coronavirus, Pitkin County had 27, and Garfield County had 25. Confirmed positives statewide are just over 2300. You can find updated information at covid19.colorado.gov
