Colorado appears to be competing with the Federal government for ventilators. The Denver Post reports Governor Jared Polis told CNN that just as the state was making a deal with a manufacturer for an order of 500 ventilators, the Federal Emergency Management Agency swooped in and bought the machines.
An unknown congressional source told CNN that Colorado was told it was not on the priority list and would have to find its own supplies. On Saturday, the governor and local governments sent a letter to Colorado’s congressional delegation in Washington, requesting $500 billion in the next federal stimulus package to help state and local governments fight the pandemic.
