It looks like a new police chief is coming to Carbondale. KDNK's Amy Hadden Marsh has more.
Rifle Police sergeant Kirk Wilson will likely be the next police chief in Carbondale. In a press release issued Tuesday, Town Manager Jay Harrington stated that he appointed Wilson out of four candidates for the position.
The Sopris Sun reports that Wilson graduated from Arizona State University and had a brief stint in the Department of Corrections. His parents moved to Grand Junction where he enrolled in the Delta/Montrose Police Academy, followed by a job in Rifle, where he’s been for the last 17 years. He’s worked as a K-9 officer, a community policing specialist, and as a medic for the all-hazards response team. Wilson also has a Masters in Public Administration.
Carbondale Town Trustees will make the final decision on April 28th.
