A District Court judge Friday granted the City of Glenwood Springs’ motion to intervene in a lawsuit filed by Rocky Mountain Industrials against Garfield County.The suit alleges that Garfield County has no regulatory authority over operations at RMI’s Mid-Continent Limestone Quarry. The City intervened in support of the county and because of its own interests, including proximity to the quarry. RMI has applied to expand the existing site from 15.7 acres to 447 acres. The expanded mine would operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
