Three skiers in West Willow Creek near Snowmass triggered a large avalanche on February 8, 2023. No injuries were reported, but the Colorado Avalanche Information Center is advising backcountry recreators to travel on slopes less than about 35 degrees and seek out wind-sheltered terrain.
