Kids Corner | Animals

Kids' Corner is the Andy Zanca Youth Empowerment Program's family radio hour created by kids, for kids. Our theme this month is animals. During this program, you will hear fun songs about animals, poems recited by students, a read-aloud book, play an animal guessing game, learn all about endangered species, and much more.

This Animal Themed Show included the following:

Songs:
"I Am a Paleontologist" by They Might be Giants (For Kids)
"Speed Turtle" by Brian Wilson on Sandra Boynton's album Blue Moo
"The Crawdad Song" by Doc Watson
"The Barnyard Song" by Sam Hinton
"Walkin' My Cat Named Dog" by Norma Tanega
"Pig on Her Head" The Laurie Berkner Band
" Your Personal Penguin" by Davy Jones
"Chickadee" by Pete Moss
"Rabbit Tango" by Patti LuPone on Sandra Boynton's album Blue Moo

Recipe of the Month: Ants on a Log

Family Favorite: ACES at Rock Bottom Ranch
You can visit farm animals like goats, sheep, chickens and more at this wildlife preserve and educational ranch located between Willits and Carbondale.

Read-Aloud Book: "Diary of a Worm" by Doreen Cronin

Family Challenge: Let’s learn about animal tracks. Find a family member to bake cupcakes with. Grab some frosting or make your own because we are going to decorate them with animal tracks.

Have your family member or friend go online and do some research about the tracks that different animals make. If you would like some resources, you can check out the notes for this show.

Now, get to work decorating your cupcakes with frosting tracks. Can you make a bear paw, or a mountain lion print? What about deer, birds, or rabbits?

This is a fun, educational, and delicious way to learn more about animals.
