Community Calendar for October 1st

Here’s your community calendar for Saturday October 1st, underwritten by the Mount Sopris Rotary Club, meeting every Thursday at noon at Mi Casita in Carbondale. Rotary, service above self.

  • Today is Potato Day, the longest-running annual community event in Carbondale. Since 1909, local farming and ranching families have kept the tradition alive. Events include a parade at 10:30, BBQ, live music starting at 11:30, farm market, and kids’ activities. KDNK is hosting our annual record sale with vinyl, CDs and stereo equipment from 9am to 3pm next to the stage in Sopris Park. The Recreation Department will operate a bounce house from 11am to 1pm.

  • The second to last Aspen Saturday Market of the season is today from 8:30am to 3pm.

The conversation will include Native American history, Indian law, and the Dakota Pipeline protests.

  • English in Action hosts its annual Fiesta de Tamales from 5 to 8 pm at Eagle Crest Nursery in El Jebel. The fundraiser supports English in Action’s mission to help adults learn English, buidling cross-cultural bridges to promote a more cohesive community. Admission includes a homemade tamale and pupusa dinner, with entertainment by Aspen Santa Fe Ballet Folklorico and local salsa dancers, a DJ, pinatas for the kids and prize drawings.
