The Roaring Fork District School Board met on Wednesday June 26th to discuss the budget and housing for staff in partnership with Habitat for Humanity.
The meeting took place digitally and began with a review of the budget. The majority percentage of the district's total program funding comes from the state in the form of property taxes.
The smallest percentage of funding comes from the federal government, this is made up primarily of funding from the IDEA law which guarantees appropriate and equitable education to children with disabilities.
The board also voted on the resolution for partnership with Habitat for Humanity of the valley. The resolution enables the district to continue working with Habitat on their new affordable housing project in Glenwood Springs with the understanding that ten of the 88 apartments be made available for eligible district staff. The resolution passed unanimously. More information will be available as the story progresses.
