Hoping to go into science communication upon graduation in 2020, she’s excited to get a taste of the world of broadcast journalism and to share her love of science. Troy Oppie grew up playing trombone in Seattle, developing an interest in jazz at an early age thanks to many great music teachers. That interest in music became an interest in radio, and Troy was eventually blessed with an opportunity to host overnight jazz programming on KPLU-FM in Seattle for nearly five years.

Dominic Anthony Walsh covers energy, the environment and public health for Texas Public Radio. He focuses on stories that reveal how major changes in climate systems, energy markets and public health policies affect communities in his hometown, San Antonio, and across the state.

Tori Bedford is an Associate Producer for Boston Public Radio. She holds a B.S. in Journalism from Emerson College, where she worked as a public affairs producer, News Director, and half of the George and Tori Show (the Tori half) weekday mornings on WERS. A career in radio was a surprising turn for me seeing that my first love was science. I studied chemistry at the University of Akron and for 13 years lived the quiet life of an analytical chemist in the Akron area,listening to WKSU all the while in the lab.
