KDNK Is Hiring An Operations Assistant

What KDNK is All About:

KDNK’s mission is to provide public access radio that connects community members to one another and the world. Based in Carbondale, Colorado since 1983, KDNK reaches thousands of listeners across nine FM signals and online. KDNK has a reputation for funky vitality with over 100 volunteer DJs. We are a trusted source for music discovery, news coverage, emergency information, weather, road conditions, ski & river reports, lost & found pet reports, and community calendar listings. 

  

What the Job Looks Like:

KDNK’s Operations Assistant will help the entire station and all of its operations from programming to fundraising.  While this is an entry-level position, the opportunity for growth and learning is abundant.  This is an excellent opportunity to explore and grow a career in community radio and independent media.

 

Essential Duties:

Event planning coordination

Membership coordination assistance including data entry and generating reports

Assisting in maintaining and updating DJ logs including updates in underwriting messages and public service announcements.

Maintain and update our social media presence and other digital initiatives

Assistance with daily community calendar compilation and posting online to kdnk.org

Receive new music submissions from musicians and promoters.

Sort new music weekly and train with Cody to discern “tier 2 music”

Meet some music promoters with the Music Director  and monitor music@kdnk.org email

Download digital music and organize folders in the KDNK Airserve

Add music to the digital audio drive library

General office administrative duties including monitoring and ordering station supplies, reception, and phone coverage.

What Skills You Have:

Self-motivated with the ability to work independently

Teamwork and commitment to serving the greater good through radio

Detailed-oriented, with excellent verbal and written communication skills

Previous experience with computers, software, and comfort using new technologies

A desire to engage with diverse communities and nurture a wide range of personalities

An appreciation, knowledge, and interest in a wide array of music genres    

Commitment to timely responses across multiple communications systems

Schedule flexibility including occasional work on nights and weekends

Salary and Benefits:

$36,500 (based on $19 per hour). Full-time position. Paid time off includes escalating vacation time, personal leave, sick leave, and paid holidays. Eligible for health stipend and partial dental coverage.
