Sondie Reiff, Frank Sgambati and Larry Bogatz dropped by Express Yourself representing the Carbondale Age-Friendly Community Initiative. CAFCI hosts a community assembly on November 21 at the Third Street Center at 4pm, featuring food, music and speechifying.

Roaring Fork Youth Orchestra

Davi Nikent presents The Mask You Live In at the Third Street Center on November 6 at 6:30. The film follows a diverse group of boys and young men as they struggle to stay true to themselves while negotiating America's narrow definition of masculinity. Local psychologists Wewer Keohane and Charles Morris stopped by KDNK for an interview with Bonte Lane on Path of Kindness about these topics.

 

Bob Sima is a singer-songwriter, spiritual teacher and musical mystic. Shannon Plummer is a shamanic practitioner, intentional creation coach, artist and singer. They perform at the Third Street Center on Friday, September 27th at 7pm. The event is co-presented by The Spiritual Center and Davi Nikent.

Eleanor E. Yates was born in Denver, Colorado and has traveled the world painting murals. Ella is now channeling her creative positivity into creating Spirit-Up! It's a tabletop game that aims to inspire happiness and fun in its players. The community is invited to play a demo at the Third Street Center in the Senior Matters room on Thursday at 5pm, or Friday through Monday from 5:30 to 6:30pm.

Rev. Shawna Foster, minister for the Two Rivers Unitarian Universalist church in Carbondale, recently traveled to the U.S. Mexico Border to greet the caravan of asylum seekers coming from Central America. Maeve Conran of KGNU spoke with Shawna from Tijuana last week. Shawna and other Roaring Fork Valley locals will speak about traveling to the U.S. Mexico Border in support of the migrant caravan at the Third Street Center on Tuesday, December 18, at 6pm.

Thanks to Post Independent writer Kyle Mills for covering the KDNK Halloween Dance Party with DJ Spooky at Third Street Center on Halloween night in the paper. It's great to get positive coverage of our hard work. Advance ticket sales have ended, but tickets are available at the door, starting at 6.

The adults-only benefit event features a music video mixtape curated by KDNK djs along with games and prizes thanks to Roots RX from 6-8pm, costume contest from 8-9pm with celebrity judges and prizes from Glenwood Caverns, Sopris Liquor & Wine, and Carbondale Beer Works, and headliner DJ Spooky from 9-10:30pm.  

Also starting at 6, Wild Style food truck will serve Lamb Samurai Voodoo Tacos, Pickled Avocado Tacos, and Bison and Green Chile Sloppy Joes. You can wash them down with beer from Ska Brewing, Denver Beer Co, and Roaring Fork Beer, plus Marble Mules, various red wines, and Sparkling Blood Orange Watermelon Wine on ice.
