Frank Martin Band Sunday Showcase with special Guest Hap Harriman

It’s been my dream to play a series of shows with a great band while inviting special guests along for the ride.

More than that, I’ve always wanted to create a space for musical magic—the transcendental moments when musicians reach for each other, the song opens up, and every whimsical moment leads somewhere unexpected. Thanks to Townline Trucks of Carbondale, that dream is becoming reality with a showcase series on the third Sunday of each month, from July through October, 4–7 p.m.

My first guest is guitarist Hap Harriman on July 19. One of my favorite regional guitarists, Hap’s tone, phrasing, and taste are everything I aspire to in my own playing. We first met at a jam on Missouri Heights, where we bonded over Robben Ford and Ry Cooder tunes.

Joining us on the Townline Trucks stage will be a nimble rhythm section featuring drummer Larry Dutmer (Valle Musico, The Line Up, and numerous stage productions) and bassist Matt Trinidad (The Intaglios, Valle Musico, and The Line Up). I’ll also be leaning into my electric side, playing original music along with covers that may surprise those who know me primarily from my solo gigs.
