The Beauty of Water: A Watercolor Exhibition will open on Friday, April 3, with a public reception from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Basalt Regional Library.
The exhibition features watercolor work by Sarah Peterson and her students from the Art Base. Sarah has taught classes at the Art Base for the past 15 years, and many of her students have returned to study with her again and again over the years. This exhibition celebrates both her work as an artist and teacher and the creativity of the students she has inspired.
The show will be on view Friday, April 3 through Saturday, April 4, during regular library hours.
Watercolor’s fluid, luminous nature is at the heart of The Beauty of Water, a show that highlights the expressive possibilities of the medium while showcasing the growth and dedication of local artists. The exhibition offers visitors an opportunity to experience a range of styles and subjects united by a shared love of watercolor.
The Beauty of Water: A Watercolor Exhibition (La belleza del agua: Una exhibición de acuarela) abrirá el viernes 3 de abril con una recepción pública de 4:00 a 6:00 pm en la Biblioteca regional de Basalt.
La exhibición presenta el trabajo en acuarela de Sarah Peterson y sus estudiantes de the Art Base. Sarah ha impartido clases en the Art Base por los últimos 15 años, y sus estudiantes con frecuencia regresan año tras año. Esta exhibición celebra tanto su trabajo como artista y maestra, como la creatividad que ha inspirado en cada estudiante.

Join artist Sarah Peterson for a weeklong immersive watercolor class that deepens your understanding of the medium’s materials, methods, and magic. Embrace watercolor’s unpredictability while learning strategies to guide and refine it, including Alla Prima (wet-on-wet) for fresh, translucent results. With individualized instruction and hands-on guidance, beginners feel supported and returning artists feel challenged. Come expand skills, loosen up, and enjoy dedicated creative time.
An engaging time where you and your child are invited to listen to stories, participate in large motor movement, experience sensory activities, and be able to interact with other children and caregivers. This is geared to children 0-3 years old.
Éste es un momento divertido e interesante en el cual tú y tu peque pueden escuchar historias, participar en movimientos que fortalecen la motricidad, experimentar actividades sensoriales e interactuar con más peques y personas adultas a su cuidado. Opening March 13th, the Powers Art Center’s annual Future Creatives: Student Art Show. This year, we highlight K-8 students from the Marble Charter School. Students were inspired by artworks on exhibition and created their own original art. Visit the museum to see their work!

Join us from 1 to 3 p.m. on the first Friday each month at the Carbondale Branch Library to explore, encourage and share ideas with others interested in expanding their creative side. Guests are invited to enjoy an inspiring afternoon surrounded by vibrant watercolor works that capture the beauty and movement of water. The reception celebrates Sarah’s 15 years of dedicated teaching at the Art Base, as well as the creativity, growth, and lasting artistic relationships she has cultivated with her students. Light refreshments will be served as attendees explore the exhibition, connect with the artists, and learn more about the stories behind the work.
This gathering is both a celebration of artistic expression and a tribute to the powerful role of mentorship and community in the arts.
