Garfield Re-2 School District provides summer meals

The Garfield Re-2 school district is offering free meals to children 18 and under through the USDA Summer Nutrition Program. The Meal Monkey program runs Monday through Thursday until July 26th. In addition to lunch, students may also receive a cold bagged breakfast for the following morning. Federal regulations require the children to eat the lunch on site. There will also be activities provided most days at the meal location. Food can be picked up in Rifle at Davidson Park, Cottonwood Park, Joyce Park, and Centennial Park. Food is also available in Silt and New Castle at Heron’s Nest, Community Park, Apple Tree Park, and Burning Mountain Park. And on Fridays, LIFT-UP and The River Center will provide lunches only. All sites will be closed on July 4th. More information about the Meal Monkey program can be found at wc-co.org.
