The Roaring Fork Community Development Corporation or RFCDC purchased Three Mile Mobile Home park two years ago. In its forty year history there had been no significant changes to infrastructure. Now RFCDC is helping the park to become a resident owned community, and the recent upgrades are the next step in the process.
The park's infrastructure projects include replacement of an onsite vehicular bridge, upgrades to the water and sewer system, and stabilizing the bank of Three Mile Creek which runs through the property. The estimated cost for the entire project is 2.5 million, and construction is expected to be completed in spring of 2026.
These improvements are the second phase of a three step plan to allow Three Mile’s inhabitants to purchase the property from RFCDC and convert it to a resident owned community. The final step will be to help the residents find a lender so they can purchase the property and immunize their homes from rent spikes.
Three Mile Mobile Home Park is home to nearly 100 residents, including families, retirees, veterans, and members of the Roaring Fork Valley’s workforce.
The residents are primarily Spanish-speaking households with incomes below 100% of the area’s median income. Grants from the Colorado Department of Local Affairs, the Colorado Water Conservation Board, the Colorado River District, and other private donations will fund the construction.
