Garfield Planning Commission to hear from locals on proposed housing development

The proposed development would be built between Carbondale and Glenwood Springs on 283 acres. CDOT says two traffic lights would need to be added to Highway 82, as well as two new subdivision roads that would only permit right turns.

A 5,000-unit housing development proposed for the Roaring Fork Valley is gaining significant attention from locals across social media. The proposed Harvest Roaring Fork would include 1,500 residential units, a 120-room hotel, and over fifty thousand feet of commercial space. The development is a controversial topic among locals who are voicing concerns over water and wildlife habitat, housing shortages, and economic growth. Community members will have a chance to express their opinions at an upcoming Garfield County Planning meeting at 6 pm on Wednesday, the 25th in CMC’s Spring Valley Campus in Glenwood Springs.
