A Garfield County Planning Commission hearing of an amendment to the approved Spring Valley Ranch Planned Unit Development is looming. The proposed development in the Spring Valley Ranch Area is a luxury golfing community that would contain a ski hill, over 500 homes, an 18-hole golf course, and other luxury amenities. Spring Valley Ranch is a rural community, comprised mainly of ranchers that sits just between Carbondale and Glenwood Springs. Many of these longtime residents strongly oppose the development, and have organized to fight it.
