Pitco Board of Health Okays Limited Construction, Says No to Lodging For Now

Grassroots Community Network

Pitkin County’s board of health Thursday laid out new changes to the Public Health Order, including timelines for construction to resume. Board members emphasized when that does happen, construction companies won’t be able to have more than 10 employees on a site, and will still need to practice social distancing, they'll also have to submit safety plans before starting up.

In the same meeting, the board chose not to recommend rescinding bans on lodging. County Commissioner Greg Poschman explains why he thinks it’s too soon to make that change.

Poschman: If we start reopening lodging it means we're open for business as a tourist destination, and I think that's happening a little bit too soon. I also believe that, as someone mentioned earlier, economic activity is a determinant of health in our community and we really need to look forward to it, but I believe it's too soon.

The new amendments to the Pitkin County’s public health order will be instituted on April 23rd.
