Raleigh Burleigh was raised in the sweet backwaters of Satank and attended the Carbondale Community School then Roaring Fork High School. The Carbondale Rotary Club sponsored him as a youth ambassador to Chile for a year before his graduation in 2011. Raleigh then attended Colorado Mountain College, building his associate degree first online from California, then across the Roaring Fork Valley and finally at the Leadville campus. He studied International Affairs and Journalism at the University of Colorado, Boulder then applied those studies traveling throughout South America for the following year. Having returned to Carbondale to recollect himself, Raleigh acquired an internship with KDNK News which led to the opportunity to serve his community as News Director. After briefly returning to South America in early 2019, Raleigh Burleigh is now drawing deeper into the rich soils of this confluence as Program Director at KDNK.

Roaring Fork Schools

The Roaring Fork School District Board of Education passed a resolution in support of Amendment 73 which would raise an estimated $1.6 billion annually for Colorado schools through a tax increase on corporations and individuals and families earning over $150,000 a year. Dance Initiative

Chuck and his company UNA Projects will be performing at Dance Initiative’s 7th Annual Spectrum Dance Festival on October 19 and 20. In honor of October as domestic violence awareness month, Response presents Our Response: Survivor Stories at the Wheeler Opera House on October 18 at 5pm. Local poet, choreographer, artist and storyteller Alya Howe has worked closely with five women who will share their stories of surviving abuse and thriving. She stopped by Express Yourself to share details about the Writ Large Storytelling Series Event.

Glenwood Springs Arts Council

The Glenwood Springs Arts Council presents the 18th Annual Culinary Arts Festival on Friday, October 19th at the Hotel Colorado. Terry Glasnapp and Bonnie Kratovil stopped by Express Yourself to share about this important fundraiser and community-connecting event.

Rock Mountain Scots

Before marching in procession to the 4th Street Plaza to kick off Carbondale's 17th Annual Celtic Fest & Oktoberfest, the Rocky Mountain Scots stopped by KDNK to play a number live in the on air studio. Fran Page, founding member and executive director for Aspen Dance Connection, joined in to share about the organization's work of bringing cultural experiences to the Roaring Fork Valley.

Christie Henderson

Valley Life for All is building inclusive communities, one voice at a time. Christie Henderson moved to Aspen in 1999 for the ski season and never left. Her compassion for mental health began in June of 2015 when a friend made a call to the HOPEline (1 - 970 - 925 - 5858) and she credits the Hope Center with saving her life. In September 2017 she became the Outreach Coordinator. Christie shares her story openly to help others know they are not alone and it is okay to reach out.
