More than ten-thousand Coloradans have tested positive for COVID-19. But state epidemiologist Dr. Rachel Herlihy explains the number of infected is likely much higher.
DR. HERLIHY: We believe that number is actually close to 65,000 or 75,000. That is really based on the modeling work we are doing, as well as our understanding of rates of asymptomatic transmission, as well as symptomatic transmission.
Herlihy says epidemiological data provide a better idea of the actual transmission and infection rates in Colorado. Based on current modeling, she estimates that to date between 1.1 and 1.3 percent of the state’s population has been infected.
