Governor Polis Warns Stay at Home Restrictions Will Return if COVID-19 Cases Spike

Apr 29, 2020

Colorado is no longer under a statewide stay at home order, but Governor Jared Polis is warning residents he might have to bring back restrictions if they are not careful and coronavirus cases spike again.

Polis says he hopes he can continue to lift restrictions and allow restaurants to open soon. But he says if people  "slack off and stop wearing masks in public, that may not happen."

POLIS: We’re going to be watching the data every single day, and if the numbers begin to climb at an unsustainable rate, then we’re likely to have to go backward instead of forward.

He says residents should continue practicing social distancing during the so-called safer at home period. Meanwhile, retail stores will be allowed to reopen Friday if they take precautions like requiring employees to wear masks.
