On Tuesday evening, the Carbondale Board of Trustees voted on a motion to rename the John M. Fleet Pool to the Carbondale Aquatics Center. The motion included a contingency that a major donor may receive naming rights in the future. The motion passed four to two.
The current schematic design for the Town Center project includes 39 residential units and approximately 2000 square feet of commercial space. The residential area would include four units reserved for low income housing, 27 units for middling income, and eight units for any level of income. The town is currently competing for tax credit awards from the Colorado Housing and Finance Authority that would pay for most of the construction. The commercial space raises questions for CHFA about the viability of the project, so it was proposed that the project be split into two separate components that would be financed separately but develop as a single enterprise.
Concerns from the board included parking and future phases of the promenade.
Other items on the agenda included a special liquor license for the Roaring Fork Youth Orchestra and a review of the budget calendar.
