With town funds depleted after costs for a new aquatics center spiraled, Carbondale Town Trustees are reluctant when it comes to taking on new capital projects. Mayor Ben Bohmfalk joined Bob Schultz at the KDNK studios on Wednesday. Marilyn Gleason has a report.

The John M. Fleet Pool on Carbondale’s Main Street was a longstanding institution for the town. But the maintenance costs of the aging building as well as safety concerns saw it demolished in 2024. Its replacement, the Carbondale Aquatics Center, has finally crossed the fundraising finish line with the town raising over two million dollars from donors to complete the facility.
