In the more than 2,000 miles of Interstate 70, the 3 hour drive between Glenwood Springs and Denver tends to draw a disproportionate amount of attention. With frequent closures, especially in recent years, the afflicted area has gained a lot of news coverage … and an Instagram page. KDNK’s Hattison Rensberry has more.

A commercial vehicle transporting carbonated drinks crashed in winter weather in Glenwood Canyon's westbound lanes on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2023. The crash occurred in the same spot west of Hanging Lake Tunnel that a CMV crashed on Jan. 30, which also led to an extended closure of I-70.

UPDATED: Canyon reopens following gnarly crash, extended closure

Speed may have been a factor as another commercial vehicle crashed in wintry conditions in Glenwood Canyon Wednesday. Officials reopened I-70 around 10:30 later that night.

A semi dangles from the westbound deck of I-70 Monday. No injuries were reported, but the crash closed the Interstate through Glenwood Canyon all day Monday.
