Last summer, the nation got a new three-digit suicide prevention number: 988. A new analysis found the in-state answer rates so far vary widely, especially in the Mountain West.

Colorado is creating its first official database to track gun violence

In 2021, Colorado voters approved the creation of a new office within the state’s Department of Public Health and Environment to tackle gun violence. They are partnering with the Colorado School of Public Health to create an information bank that tracks and studies gun violence across Colorado.

Out of the Darkness Walk raises awareness about suicide prevention

September is suicide prevention month. The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is supporting locally organized community walks around the country to raise awareness for the cause. Glenwood Springs is hosting the Western Slope walk on Saturday September 24.

Garfield County Commissioner Tom Jankovsky, who refuses to take a stance on the separation of church and state and once claimed the virus that causes Covid-19 was created in a lab in Wuhan in order for the Chinese government to "knock down" the American economy and "take out" former President Donald Trump, is up for reelection this fall. He recently spoke to Glenwood Springs City Council regarding a trail network behind the Glenwood Wal-Mart that would be installed in order to displace unhoused people who camp on the land.
