Youth Leadership

  • The staff shakeup at the Sopris Sun continues. Editor Raleigh Burleigh is leaving at the end of March, and James Steindler will be taking up his mantle, leaving the managing editor position open for one Skyler Stark-Ragsdale. Stark-Ragsdale has a Masters in Journalism from Emerson University and has been working with the Sopris Sun’s Youth Bureau for just under a year. He also spent time working at the Aspen Times covering crime, local government, and more. He sat down with KDNK’s Lily Jones to talk about his background, and the future of the Sopris Sun.
  • The American Beekeeping Federation is a national organization that supports the interests of all beekeepers and the beekeeping industry in the United States. It also runs the American Honey Queen program, a national competition with the goal to promote beekeeping, increase national honey consumption, and educate the public about the value of honey bees.Colorado does not have a Honey Queen program, but in January last year KDNK's Marilyn Gleason visited with the 2024 American Honey Queen and the three young women hoping to take her place.
