GLENWOOD SPRINGS, CO-Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Glenwood Springs will be hosting a 10,000 Villages Fair Trade International Craft Fair. Good Shepherd is located on Grand Ave, next to Sayer Park. The doors will be open Thurs Nov 6 from noon to 6pm, Friday Nov 7 from 10am to 6pm, Sat Nov 8 from 10am to 5 pm, Sun Nov 9 from noon to 4pm. All proceeds from the sale go to the artisans of the handmade goods, to provide a stable income and allow disadvantaged people from 35 countries to take control of their own lives. Since their founding in 1946, 10,000 Villages has provided 140 million dollars in sustainable income to workers who would otherwise be unemployed. Come by and support the artisans and find some gifts that are unique and handmade using local and recycled materials.
Take a mindful break together! In this workshop, kids, caregivers, and families will explore gentle Tai Chi movements that encourage calm, focus, and connection. Through simple, slow motions paired with breathing, participants of all ages can discover how mindfulness helps reduce stress and bring a sense of balance. No prior experience is needed—movements are easy to follow and can be done standing or sitting. Come ready to relax, move, and enjoy a peaceful time together. This workshop is appropriate for children ages 6 to 10 with their caregivers.
Author and teacher Cari Shuman will be here to lead Tai Chi and introduce her new book, Tai Chi for Kids, which will be available for purchase.
¡Tomemos juntos un descanso consciente! En este taller, tanto personitas pequeñas como las personas adultas a su cuidado y familias enteras podrán explorar movimientos sutiles de Tai Chi que promueven la calma, la concentración y los vínculos afectivos. A través de movimientos simples y lentos combinados con ejercicios de respiración, todas las personas que participen podrán descubrir cómo la consciencia plena ayuda a reducir el estrés y promueve un sentimiento de equilibrio. Stop by for free GED, ESL and Digital Literacy resources as well as information about free Colorado Mountain College High School Equivalency/GED prep classes, full cost Adult High School Diploma courses, and grant-funded reduced tuition ESL classes offered year-round. The CMC advisor can provide information on applying and registering for ESL, HSE and credit courses at CMC, and participants are also encouraged to come with questions or requests for resources. Johnny Le Coq, an avid fly fisher, combined his passion with his design skills to start Fishpond, a Colorado-based fly fishing and outdoor gear company. Their different backgrounds meet at the Colorado River, and they share a mission to protect it. Join Roaring Fork Conservancy (RFC) and The Nature Conservancy for a special installment of the Brooksher Watershed Institute. Special Guest and former RFC board member, Ramsey Kropf, will emcee a lively evening featuring Lorelei and Johnny in a conversation about Tribal engagement in the Colorado River basin.
