Aikido is a modern Japanese martial art focused on re-directing conflict into harmony. Benefits include confidence, discipline, stress-relief, resilience, community-building and fitness. All levels practice together. We are affiliated with the United States Aikido Federation.

Aikido classes at CMC Carbondale are now forming for the Spring Semester. Aikido emphasizes non-violent conflict resolution. Principles and techniques are applicable to all types of conflict, not just physical. Training takes place in a joyful and supportive environment. Great workout for mind, body, and spirit. No experience or equipment needed. Classes meet in Carbondale from 6-7:30 every Tuesday and Thursday evening. Try the first 2 classes for free. When recycling plastic in Carbondale, stick to bottles, tubs, jars, and jugs. No clamshells, plastic bags, coffee cups, or takeout containers. If it's not a bottle, tub, jar, or jug, toss it in the trash. These items can't be sorted and there is no end-user market for them.

Recyclables in Carbondale shouldn't be bagged. Just place them loose in a bin. If your recyclables are in grocery or garbage bags, they're likely being thrown in the landfill instead. Bagging your recyclables may even cause entire loads to be rejected. This is because bags cause jams in the sorting machines which can slow down lines and cause costly damage. Other items that aren't recyclable are bubble wrap, food wraps, and garden hoses.

Sopris Lodge has partnered with the Carbondale & Rural Fire Protection District to host a holiday food and supply drive benefiting our friends at Colorado Animal Rescue! Donations to support local shelter pets will be accepted Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Dec. 1-19) in collection boxes at both locations.

We are excited to invite families to our early literacy story times. Designed for all ages, we will enjoy stories, songs, and action rhymes in the Community Room. Sitting still is not a requirement for storytime. Young children can reap the benefits of storytelling and songs even while wandering. Give it a try. We would love to see you!

Con gran emoción deseamos invitar a todas las familias a nuestra hora de cuentos para respaldar la alfabetización temprana, creada para peques de todas las edades y presentada en nuestra Sala Comunitaria. Disfrutaremos de historias, canciones y juegos que combinan las rimas con el movimiento. La capacidad de permanecer inmóviles no es una expectativa para la hora de los cuentos, puesto que los beneficios de la narrativa y la música siguen siendo de gran beneficio incluso para peques que prefieren explorar mientras escuchan. High Rockies Harm Reduction provides free overdose prevention materials, education, resources and support, including Narcan, fentanyl test strips, condoms, syringe disposal, hygiene and wound care supplies, peer support and more EVERY WEDNESDAY in the West Glenwood Mall Parking Lot from 12 PM - 2 PM

Come hang out at the Teen Café on early release Wednesdays. Middle and high schoolers can play the switch, create art, eat snacks, enjoy coffee, or work on homework. Feel free to hang out for a while or come and go as you please. Must be in Grades 5+ to enter the Teen Café.

Ven a pasar un buen rato en el Teen Café los miércoles de salida temprana. Adolescentes cursando las escuelas media y media superior pueden venir a jugar con el Switch, crear arte, tomar bocadillos, beber un café o hacer sus tareas escolares. Siéntete en la libertad de quedarte por un rato o de entrar y salir cuando gustes. Debes cursar del 5º grado en adelante para poder entrar al Teen Café.
