Printmaking with Sarah McMahon - This is a beginner-friendly printmaking class designed just for kids – no experience needed! Young artists will design, carve, ink, and create their own original prints in a fun, hands-on environment. All materials are provided, and kids will get to take home their own unique prints.

Kids ages 6-11 are invited to explore, experiment, and create in our monthly Open Art Studio. This drop-in program offers a variety of art materials and creative stations where children can make art at their own pace - no instructions, no pressure, just imagination and fun. All materials provided.

Join us for Carbondale’s 16th Annual FAMILY BLOCK PARTY, the highlight of First Friday on May 1, 2026, from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM on 4th Street Plaza in downtown Carbondale!

Jonatha Brooke is what happens when literate songwriting meets fearless innovation, a singular voice in modern music whose work is as much chamber poetry as it is folk-pop. Trained in the rigor of classical composition yet born with a Broadway-bound belt and a novelist’s eye for character, she weaves deeply personal narratives with a rare melodic sophistication. From her early days with The Story to her solo triumphs, Brooke has quietly carved a niche where the emotional intelligence of Joni Mitchell meets the musical wit of Stephen Sondheim, all wrapped in a voice that aches, sparkles, and soars, often within the same phrase.

A true interdisciplinary artist, Brooke has not only penned a poignant, one-woman musical (“My Mother Has 4 Noses”), but she has also collaborated with luminaries like Katy Perry, Joe Sample, and the late Woody Guthrie, whose unpublished lyrics she set to music with the reverence of a curator and the daring of a jazz improviser. Whether commanding a stage with nothing but a guitar and a spotlight or orchestrating a lush studio album, Jonatha Brooke is never simply performing; she is sculpting emotion in midair, conjuring stories that linger like the final notes of a well-loved sonata.

G16's School-Based Family Resource Center, in partnership with the Jonathan D + Mark C. Lewis Foundation and the Town of Parachute, invites you to the 2nd Annual MayFest, a youth-led community event. May 2, 2026 at Cottonwood Park (100 La Plata Circle, Parachute, CO 81635).

The event is designed to bring youth, their families, and community organizations together to learn about local resources, career opportunities, and internships, all while enjoying a day of fun activities.

Schedule includes a 5K, pancake breakfast, bike derby, car show, vendors, food trucks, carnival games, and Battle of the Bands!
