Carbondale Arts presents two new exhibitions in the gallery on display March 6-April 9, 2026. "Sweet Excess" by William Lanzillo brings to life giant contraption extrudes an impossible cannoli, at once grotesque and delightful. Performance and sculpture converge in a communal, larger-than-life dessert experience. Rooted in family nostalgia and childhood trips to bakeries, the work transforms a cherished memory into a nostalgic, collective spectacle.

"Structures Inachevées" by Ludivine Gérard brings together the evolving threads of work from the emotional layering of her series Recadrage to the fragmented presence of the human form in Silhouette. Each piece remains open, unfinished, inviting the viewer to complete the story or let it remain in motion. Across all series, the artist explores the tension between structure and absence, balance and disruption, visibility and silence.

The opening reception will be on First Friday, March 6 from 5:00-7:00pm with artist talks beginning at 5:30pm. The gallery is open weekdays 10am-5pm.

Watercolor Techniques: with Rebecca Sterling

All Skill Levels Welcome
Supplies Provided

Discover watercolor’s versatility in a skill-building, creatively rich course. Learn wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, salt texture, and wax resist, plus paint handling, layering, and composition. Build confidence with guided exercises, then create finished pieces: a landscape, floral portrait, and expressive watercolor collage. All levels welcome—experiment, refine your style, and deepen your understanding of watercolor as a medium of personal expression.

We are excited to invite families to our early literacy story times. Designed for all ages, we will enjoy stories, songs, and action rhymes in the Community Room. Sitting still is not a requirement for storytime. Young children can reap the benefits of storytelling and songs even while wandering. Give it a try. We would love to see you!

Con gran emoción deseamos invitar a todas las familias a nuestra hora de cuentos para respaldar la alfabetización temprana, creada para peques de todas las edades y presentada en nuestra Sala Comunitaria. Disfrutaremos de historias, canciones y juegos que combinan las rimas con el movimiento. La capacidad de permanecer inmóviles no es una expectativa para la hora de los cuentos, puesto que los beneficios de la narrativa y la música siguen siendo de gran beneficio incluso para peques que prefieren explorar mientras escuchan. Opening March 13th, the Powers Art Center’s annual Future Creatives: Student Art Show. This year, we highlight K-8 students from the Marble Charter School. Students were inspired by artworks on exhibition and created their own original art. Visit the museum to see their work!

High Rockies Harm Reduction provides free overdose prevention materials, education and support, including Narcan and fentanyl test strips, syringe disposal, hygiene supplies, peer support and more EVERY Wednesday in the West Glenwood Mall Parking Lot from 12 PM - 2 PM

Come hang out at the Teen Café on early release Wednesdays. Middle and high schoolers can play the Switch, create art, eat snacks, enjoy coffee, or work on homework. Feel free to hang out for a while or come and go as you please. Must be in Grades 5+ to enter the Teen Café.

Ven a pasar un buen rato en el Teen Café los miércoles de salida temprana. Adolescentes cursando las escuelas media y media superior pueden venir a jugar con el Switch, crear arte, tomar bocadillos, beber un café o hacer sus tareas escolares. Siéntete en la libertad de quedarte por un rato o de entrar y salir cuando gustes. Debes cursar del 5º grado en adelante para poder entrar al Teen Café.
