A new study comparing fossils in China to those found in the Green River Formation in northwestern Colorado determined that chili peppers are much, much older than historians have believed -- and may have originated in a humid, tropical Colorado 50 million years ago.

KDNK's Morgan Neely has Friday's news, including a closer look at Glenwood Springs City Council's take on a possible Downtown Design Overlay. Also, we hear some piping hot info about the history of chili peppers—they're way, waaaaay older than you think—and take a look at regional deaths of Hispanic people at the hands of cops over the past decade. Meanwhile, biologists travel to Moab to learn more about how to determine a bird’s health by how it sounds.

Morgan is KDNK's News Director. He comes to KDNK with public radio passion and experience. He was a news host, reporter, and operations/programming director at KAJX-Aspen, and has extensive experience working in municipal government.
