On this month's Radio Physics show, summer intern Colby Vanderaa speaks with physicist Gil Refael.
Gil Refael graduated from Tel-Aviv University in 1997 with a B.S. degree in physics and math. He was then trained at Harvard University (with Daniel S. Fisher and Eugene Demler) between 1998 and 2003. After two years of postdoctoral studies at the Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics (KITP), primarily with Matthew Fisher, he joined the faculty at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) where he is currently the Taylor W. Lawrence Professor of Theoretical Physics, and the chair of the faculty board. His research concentrates on quantum dynamics and computing. He is a recipient of a Packard Fellowship, a Sloan Research Fellowship, a Bessel Prize of the Humboldt Society in Germany, and a Simons Researcher.
