Jess Jiang
Jess Jiang
Jess Jiang is the producer for NPR's international podcast, Rough Translation. Previously, Jess was a producer for Planet Money. In 2014, she won an Emmy for the team's T-shirt project. She followed the start of the t-shirt's journey, from cotton farms in Mississippi to factories in Indonesia. But her biggest prize has been getting to drive a forklift, back hoe, and a 35-ton digger for a story. Jess got her start in public radio at Studio 360—though, if you search hard enough, you can uncover a podcast she made back in college.
Julia Ritchey
Julia Ritchey
Julia joined KUER in 2016 after a year reporting at the NPR member station in Reno, Nev. During her stint, she covered battleground politics, school overcrowding, and any story that would take her to the crystal blue shores of Lake Tahoe. Her work earned her two regional Edward R. Murrow awards. Originally from the mountains of Western North Carolina, Julia graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2008 with a degree in journalism. She’s worked as both a print and radio reporter in several states and several countries — from the 2008 Beijing Olympics to Dakar, Senegal. Her curiosity about the American West led her to take a spontaneous, one-way road trip to the Great Basin, where she intends to continue preaching the gospel of community journalism, public radio and podcasting. In her spare time, you’ll find her hanging with her beagle Bodhi, taking pictures of her food and watching Patrick Swayze movies.

Chris Hassig
Chris Hassig
Chris listened to KDNK growing up in Carbondale throughout the nineties and aughts and began DJing in 2016. He hosts "Jazz After Art" every other Tuesday night at 9pm and co-hosts "The Deep..." with MD Cody Lee on Fridays at noon. After many years of volunteering with events and on the KDNK Board of Directors, Chris joined the staff as Membership Coordinator in 2024. When not at KDNK, Chris is a visual artist, seasonal bread maker at Bonnie's on Aspen Mountain, and a member of the Town of Carbondale Board of Trustees.
Tracy Strode
Tracy Strode
Tracy's music journey essentially began at KDNK, when his mom Susie Strode found a home in Carbondale in 1985 and promptly became a DJ on the station, along with wearing many other KDNK hats in the 80s and 90s. Susie also brought dozens of sought-after musical acts to the valley with her
Music Gumbo Productions
company, and young Tracy would often act as her secretary when the band members or their agents would call the landline at home to talk about upcoming bookings. Tracy has many fond memories of time spent upstairs at the Dinkel Building studio, our original location before we moved to our current home on 2nd Street. Tracy manages all the underwriting at KDNK, and occasionally plugs cables into electronic devices to produce sound. You can catch him on the air every other Saturday evening from 9-11pm as
Son of a Gumbo
, hosting his show
The Commodious Cutup.
Megan Passmore
Megan Passmore

Art Ackerman
Art Ackerman
Art Ackerman lived to be one of the oldest Radio DJs in the Western Hemisphere, passing away just a few weeks after his 100th birthday in the summer of 2025. He had been doing his show on KDNK since 1987, and was still on the air up til very recently before his passing. Art kept KDNK connected to the glory days of American jazz every Tuesday evening from 7-9pm on his Swing-Swing-Swing show, and legacy of his show is carried on by his grandchildren Georgia & JR.
