Midwifery

  • In the United States, less than one percent of midwives are male. That figure holds true in Colorado—data from February of this year shows there are only four men certified as nurse-midwives in the entire state. For Rocky Mountain Community Radio, K-V-N-F's Laura Palmisano speaks to one of those midwives: Adrian Medina. He's the only male nurse-midwife on staff at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction.
  • KDNK's News Director Morgan Neely has Friday's updates, including a look at a complex contract issue with Roaring Fork Schools' superintendent that may have led to the head of HR for the district losing her job. And, there are only four male midwives in Colorado ... we talk to the 1/4th of them who work at St. Mary's in Grand Junction.
