This month on VOICES Radio Hour — Airing Friday, July 11th at 6pm on KDNK — we talked to locals in the Roaring Fork Valley about their journeys to find home, whether here or returning to places they had never been before. Recorded live on the 4th of July First Friday in Carbondale, and with music by Mateo Sandate and Gabriella Mejia

Storyteller Bios:

Maria Graciani is from Puerto Rico and has lived in the valley since 2018. She has an Associate's Degree in Culinary Arts and a certificate in International Pastry. She has worked with different brands like Kitchen Aid, Splenda, Vodka Absolut, amount others. At the Valley she has worked for 2 years as a Pastry Chef at the Viceroy Hotel and now works at Colorado Mountain College helping the Latino community and at Hugo's Restaurant sweetening the valley.

Maria Graciani es de Puerto Rico y reside en el valle desde el 2018. Tiene un Grado Asociado en Artes Culinarias y un certificado en Reposteria Internacional. Trabajo para diferentes marcas como Kitchen Aid, Splenda, Vodka Absolut entre otras. En el valle trabajo por 2 años Como Pastry Chef del Hotel Viceroy. Ahora trabaja en Colorado Mountain College ayudando a la comunidad Latina y en Hugo’s Restaurant endulzando al valle.

Mateo Sandate is a professional guitarist who lives in Carbondale, Colorado. He studied Jazz Performance & holds multiple degrees from the University of North Texas. He is the founder of the Guitar Academy at A Spiritual Center and has supported Colorado Mountain College, Jazz Aspen, & the Aspen Music Festival as an instructor. He loves to compose! His current single, “Peace Prevail,” is inspired from a tour with The Goi Peace Foundation & Nobel Laureates Nihon Hidanko.
